Terms and conditions

This is a draft prepared to describe intended practice. It is not legal advice and must be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before GoatMate is offered commercially.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account, starting a farm, subscribing to a paid plan, or otherwise using GoatMate, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms form a binding agreement between you and the operator of GoatMate.

2. The service

GoatMate is a record-management and informational tool for livestock keepers. It allows you to record and review herd, milking, breeding, kidding, health, medication, feed, task and financial data. It is provided as an online service and as a Progressive Web App.

We may update, change or remove features at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice of material changes that affect paid subscriptions.

3. Account and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into contracts. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

4. Farm data and ownership

You retain ownership of the farm records you enter. We grant you a licence to use GoatMate to store, view, export and manage that data. You can export your records as CSV from within the app at any time while your account is active.

You are responsible for the accuracy, completeness and legality of the data you enter, including animal identifiers, health observations, medication dates, withdrawal dates and financial figures.

5. Subscription, trial and billing

GoatMate offers Free, Pro and Farm subscription plans. Paid plans include a 14-day free trial unless stated otherwise. When the trial ends, your payment method will be charged according to the billing cycle you selected (monthly or yearly).

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. By subscribing, you authorise Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

Plan limits, such as the number of goats or features available, are enforced by the application. Exceeding your plan’s limits may require an upgrade.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel or change your subscription from the Billing page or the Stripe customer portal at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to paid features until that date.

Partial refunds are not provided unless required by applicable law. If you believe a charge was incorrect, contact us within 30 days and we will investigate.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to access another farm’s data or another user’s account.
• Use GoatMate for unlawful, fraudulent or abusive purposes.
• Interfere with the service, its security or its availability.
• Upload malware, viruses or harmful code.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape or copy the service beyond what your subscription permits.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules or that create legal or security risks.

8. No veterinary, legal or professional advice

GoatMate does not diagnose animals, recommend treatments or calculate legal withdrawal periods. Health and medication features are record-keeping tools only. Always consult a qualified veterinarian for diagnosis, treatment and food-safety decisions.

Milk, cheese, financial, breeding and health figures produced by GoatMate are estimates based on the data you enter. They may not be exact and must not be relied on as the sole basis for a decision.

9. Warranty disclaimer

GoatMate is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, lossless or suitable for your particular farming or business needs.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GoatMate and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, animal loss, business interruption or reputational harm, arising out of or relating to your use of the service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of GoatMate shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the liability, or €100 if you did not pay.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where such limitation is not permitted by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GoatMate, its operator, affiliates and agents from any claims, damages, losses or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the service, your data, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

12. Termination

You may delete your account and farm data at any time from the app settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, fail to pay when due, or if required by law.

Upon termination, your right to use GoatMate ends. We may retain anonymised or aggregated data and records required for legal, accounting or security purposes.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where GoatMate’s operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes shall first be attempted to be resolved informally. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of that jurisdiction.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or within the app at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of GoatMate after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
